It's hard...being a mother in this time. Am I nursing my kids long enough? Am I nursing them too long? Is my carseat facing the right direction? Do I hold my child too much? Do I put them to bed at the right time?...If I were to right a blog post about all of the times that I've been criticized for the parenting decisions I've made, it would be more like a novel.
Sometimes though, there's a tiny moment in my day, even if only for a minute, where everything seems more clear. I'm in the middle of folding laundry and I hear my son yell "Mommy, look at me!" as he's standing on top of the couch with the smile that just melts me and in that moment, I feel solidarity. To all the mothers and fathers out here who never feel like they're enough, whether it be because you didn't get those dishes put away today, you raised your voice a little too soon at your little one, or you dove into three cups of coffee at noon because you needed another source of strength to get through the rest of your day, you're not alone. We're here and we get it. We're not perfect and we certainly don't expect you to be either.
I'm learning to seek simplicity. Simpler times, slower mornings, less planning, and less stress. Learning to move a little slower when I'm trying to get my son ready for school. Learning to plan less and say no to things that don't bring positivity to our family. It's a long road ahead, but hey, at least we started walking.
You may be reading this and thinking, this is a serious topic for a clothing company's opening blog post and you're probably right. Simple Little Apparel was inspired by raw motherhood and the belief that as long as you raise your littles with love, you're doing it right. It's easy to let all the noise in the world make you feel less than, or lacking. The hard part is learning to not let that noise get to you.
I want to hear from you! What makes you happy? How do you cut out the all the noise? What are those simple things, for you? Let's chat and be friends!
